On Saturday, the OYL held its annual Toronto Region Policy Parliament. The Toronto Centre Young Liberals were well represented as five policies from Toronto Centre were included and we had one of the largest delegations in the region.
TCYL(P) Policy Director Aaron GlynWilliams‘ policy, which he brought forward in collaboration with the University of Western Young Liberals, passed and will move forward to the OYL SummerFling! This policy calls for the reversal of the newly created ban on homosexual males donating organs and is extremely relevant for members of our community of Toronto Centre, also because our MPP is the Minister of Health. Aaron made a passionate and articulate speech to the Toronto Liberals gathered at the Toronto Region Policy Parliament. Furthermore, this is the third year in a row a member of TCYL has seen one of our policies move forward to SummerFling! Congratulations Aaron!
Much recognition also goes to TCYL(F-P) Executive VP Yuri Navarro for submitting a policy that addresses an important issue in our community of Toronto Centre: the recognition of foreign trained credentials, as well as TCYL(F-P) VP Finance Denise Lam for providing the ideas and motivation behind a comprehensive immigration policy. Denise’s policy addresses an issue experienced by many families in Toronto Centre that does not receive a lot of media attention: long wait times for permanent resident application processing.
Once again, TCYL showed at the Toronto Region Policy Parliament that we are one of the most active and dedicated group of Young Liberals in Ontario. Let’s keep up the great work!
